Re: Dzogchen and thoughts
I think it might be helpful if Jules were to clarify these points with Lama Lena herself. Here is my opinion nonetheless. I have received pointing out instructions several times from Lama Lena both informally during live teachings and in the context of a more structured retreat situation. I have als...

Re: Lung oral transmission
Does anyone currently besides Yeshi have permission to give out lung for practices that ChNN gave transmission. For example from the book of the Tun and the Ganapuja, is anyone authorized to give out oral transmission for Tun for one to practice. Is just matter of time that transmissions are given ...

Re: What is supposed to be kept secret? What isn't?
In my opinion, much of what is discussed here in terms of Vajrayana and Dzogchen should probably not be discussed, but I suppose we all like to engage in common interests with like-minded individuals, so... Having said that, even when so called secret things are discussed, there are so many layers t...

Re: A request for advice/secondary practices/lung - BON
As they say, there are 84,000 Bon doors so there is no shortage of practices. However, instead of suggesting specific practices I would suggest the following: Personally, I would try to focus on one main practice, amd maybe ask for a few ideas from the lama during your discussion. Also, is this a la...

Re: Dzogchen and thoughts
There’s also the traditional danger of sitting there with a mind full of junk thinking “this is primordial purity”…thus the reason that it is so important (though seemingly contradictory) for the practitioner to be able to confidently distinguish mind from its nature. I think that this point can't ...

Re: Blissful Heat
The Kusum Rangshar was a manual written by Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen, in which there is a section dealing with the practice of tummo. Are these instructions based on the tummo found in the Magyu (Mother Tantra), or are they somewhat different? Its real source is the Tantra of the Principles of the Thr...

Re: Golden Spoon of Yungdrung Lingpa
I don't think the text itself is fully translated. I remember seeing a book put out by The Foundation for the Preservation of Yungdrung Bon that had a portion of the Golden Spoon translated as part of this book. I can't say how much is there. Otherwise, there are numerous times in the Kusum Rangshar...

Re: A-Tri vs Zhang Zhung Nyengyud
thanks for the feedback. but is there thogal in A-Tri? I don’t believe it is in the fifteen session text, but maybe I’ve missed it. I have been encouraged to mainly stay away from the instructions I am not practicing yet. Nothing strict, just a guideline. It’s my impression it’s all Trekchod, essen...

Re: A-Tri vs Zhang Zhung Nyengyud
I like them a lot, but Geshe Sonam is my teacher, so I get the explanations that go along with the terminology being used. I actually compared it to the Per Kvaerne translation and I don’t really understand why one would criticize these translations and not the Kvaerne one, because they don’t reall...

Re: A-Tri vs Zhang Zhung Nyengyud
There are three English translations of the A Khrid that I know of. The Daniel P. Brown/Geshe Sonam Gurung one mentioned (this is the one I’m most familiar with), the Per Kvaerne one which I think does not contain all the sessions it goes up to 7 or 8, then I think there is one by Jean Luc Achard w...

Excuse my ignorance, but are you talking about the book by TWR "A-Tri Dzogchen" ? No, I am referring to this one: The Pith Instructions for the Stages of the Practice Sessions of the A-Tri (A Khrid) System of Bon Dzogchen Meditation https://a.co/d/5UUaaZn They have been discussed in a bit...

Re: A-Tri vs Zhang Zhung Nyengyud
I’ve been studying and practicing in the Bön A Tri Dzogchen system for the past year, funnily enough following the preliminaries once one engages in the actual practice of meditation, it starts with Shamatha focused on a visual object. It’s hard core too, you don’t close your eyes, you train your g...

Re: Chakra four finger widths below the navel
These two places were a totally different experience. No teaching tells this. I will have to disagree with you on this point. For example, in the Kusum Rangshar which gives the instructions for tummo in the Yungdrung Bon tradition, this is very clearly explained. This really isn't the place to open...

Re: Tsalung w/ & w/o completion stages
Hey everyone, I, like many people, have learned and practiced the tsalung that TWR teaches from the MaGyud, and I'm also interested in the trulkhor that is taught by his student Alejandro Chaoul; these are both taught as stand alone practices, available to anyone and with a specific dzogchen focus....
