Hongaku thought in contemporary Tendai

There are many scholarly works on hongaku thought in medieval Tendai, but how important is it for contemporary Tendai? In his article "Critique of Original Awakening Thought in Shôshin and Dôgen" Tamura Yoshirô writes: Later on, the affirmation of Original Awakening thought was abused to t...

Re: Amidism in Tendai

Pure land tradition in the Tendai-shū seems to be more complex, than in the Jodō-shū or Jodō Shinshū. I would love to learn more about it. What about the important role of Amida in the four kinds of samadhi? Could anyone say something about that? And if the nenbutsu is for the purpose of entering th...

Re: Amidism in Tendai

Hello Seishin,

thank you very much for your answer. Please excuse my late reply. Could you tell me more about the Nenbutsu practice for lay people in Tendai-shû. All I know of is the Jôgyôzanmi practice for ordained persons.

Re: Question about Kômyô Shingon.

Thank you very much for your answers. Unfortunately there is no Shingon Temple in my country. I lived in Japan for a while and during that time I also went to Kōyasan and took part in the Jukai ceremony. I guess I have no chance to learn more before I get back to Japan.

Thank you

Question about Kômyô Shingon.

Hello. I'm very interested in Shingon Buddhism. I also read Yamasaki Taikô's book about Shingon Buddhism. As far as I know the Kômyô Shingon is part of the daily service in all groups of the Shingon Shû. My understanding is, that Mikkyô is characterized by the use of Mudra , Mantra and visualisation...
