Re: Heruka Chakrasamvara thangka
Thanks so much friends -- love you! The card was given at a Heruka empowerment and Drupchod given by H. H. the Drikung Chetsang Rinpoche. Lelopa: it's the 1st link you give. :namaste: PeterC: I didnt know that. I have a few Drikung initiations (very imp. ones) but Gelug is my primary focus. Is this ...

A Rime-influenced Gelugpa here -- very grateful for the numerous Kagyu lamas who have enriched the journey.

Re: Dharma Protectors of HYT
Thanks so much for the perspectives. Perhaps it's best if I move any further discussion over to "Tantra Talk." I was hoping there might be some general guidelines about Dharma protectors for Gelugpas. . In closing just a few general notes that may be helpful: I have two Gelug Vajrayana gur...

Re: Dharma Protectors of HYT
Thanks much for the responses. For this issue there are a lot of complicating factors at play. For example: ---The specific Protector in question seems to be "bigger" (practiced more) in the Kagyu and Sakya traditions. ---It's hard to find Gelug lamas that are able to do the all the Protec...

Dharma Protectors of HYT
Question about practice: if you have a full initiation into a deity practice at Anuttarayoga level, can you do brief sadhanas for the Dharma protector of that practice (no self-generation as the Protector), or would you need a separate initiation specially for that Protector?? Same question for just...

Pen Pals needed!
Would like to connect via email with anyone who tries to practice Vajrayana at the HYT level, or equivalent level in the Nyingma tradition. Thanks,

Re: About Black Manjushri
Dont know of any book or comprehensive treatment. Pls post if you find any resource like that. Seems to be mainly a Gelug and Sakya practice -- all the Gelug Heruka Chakrasamvara teachings recommend the practice. I've seen a few short sadhanas on the Internet but no long one. I know there's somethin...

Re: Heruka Chakrasamvara thangka
Thanks :) Didn't realize that about thangkas... This is the 1st thangka I've ever seen w/ f-prints -- or the 1st w/ such prominent ones anyway; the f-prints are actually larger (taller & a bit wider) than the central yab-yum. Will try to make a copy over the next couple days and send. It was a C...

Heruka Chakrasamvara thangka
I'm hoping that someone out there can explain the source or significance of a Heruka thangka card. I received it at a Drikung empowerment and the only explanation I got was that it was very precious. The original thangka is quite old or has deteriorated. It has one distinctive feature: two footprint...

Re: "Extensive Daily Confessions of Cakrasamvara" by Bhuripa
Thanks but I didnt mean Sakya in authorship--I was suggesting possible prominence in their teaching / commentarial tradition. Google Books says this text is also cited in a book on core teachings of the Lamdre. These are the only citations I've been able to find so far.

"Extensive Daily Confessions of Cakrasamvara" by Bhuripa
Does anyone have any knowledge of this (possibly) Sakya text? I found this intriguing title in the Great Mind Training Collection merely cited as the source of a quotation. The quote doesn't mention the yidam and is a standard main training precept. The full citation is below. Thanks, [author:] Bhur...

Re: Dzogchen without deity yoga/two stages?
The Dzogchen Community founded by the late Chogyal Namkai Norbu Rinpoche does indeed use deity visualization and recitation of deity mantras. They are also strong in protector practices. Even their Short Tun (practice session text) has a brief section towards the end of deity yoga. Cultivation of ri...

Heruka Body Mandala (Gelug)
I'm interested in discussing visualization issues with folks who are trying to do the Heruka Chakrasamvara Body Mandala practice according to the commentaries of mainline Gelugpa gurus such as Lati Rinpoche, Zong Rinpoche, Trijang Rinpoche. Thanks. / LD

Re: What kind of diet do Tibetan medicine doctors recommend for someone with IBS?
Just a mini-success story to keep you motivated to see a Tibetan doctor. Several years ago I went to a young Tibetan monk-doctor to get relief from my IBS symptoms. He began by listening to my pulse for a couple minutes, then among other things mentioned that he was concerned about my kidneys. (A fe...

Early Tantra Practice in India
Hi all.
I'm interested in chatting with someone knowledgeable or interested in how Buddhist tantra was actually practiced in India in the "early days" (~600 - 900 CE). I read something unsettling in an academic study recently -- I'd welcome another perspective, Thanks!

Re: Longchenpa - Four Immeasurables - Which Volume
Hi all Does anyone know how to get Ives Waldo's translation of "Commentary on The Precious Treasury of Dharmadhaatu" -- I need to check and amplify a few pages that didn't print out correctly (mostly towards the end, & in the end-notes). Would really appreciate any assistance. I printe...

Re: Pecha format Sadhanas
I believe I found a complimentary copy of the Amitabha sadhana by Garchen Rinpoche online in pecha format with Tibetan and English. Somehow I acquired the full Drikung Chakrasamvara sadhana in pecha, but not sure now how it was acquired...it may be online if you can show that you've had the initiati...
Re: Afterlife
A quick correction to my previous post here-- The audio file of the Longchenpa is in the Internet Archive (NOT Scribd as I stated earlier) and in the Internet Arhicves goes under the title, _The Precious Treasury Of The Basic Space Of Phenomena_ (link below). I'm posting merely because it's another ...
Re: Afterlife
It's hard for me to relate to this idea that Bardo teachings can be used as a "crutch." Rebirth is accepted by all mainline Buddhist traditions, so if the crutch is the mere existence of some form of physical existence after death, one doesn't require Dzogchen or Vajrayana. (Unless, of cou...
