Re: Amida-Ji: Stop using Zen Masters explanations when referring to Amida Buddha - an example
I am little confused, was Kawaki speaking for Jodo/Shin-shu or Pure Land practice? Or his own (modernist?) practice? or Zen-shu? Is the author bothered by Jodo-Shin-Shu folks reposting a Zen-shu interpretation of Pure Land practice? Or is the author worried that Jodo-Shin-Shu practitioners are belie...

Tendai Buddhism Retreat : NYC 10/27-20/29
https://www.facebook.com/events/281379435697052/ One of the more profound topics in Tendai philosophy is the view expounded by its founder, Ven. Chih-i, that each moment of consciousness contains within it three thousand distinct states of existence. To help us understand this in more detail, Rev.D...

Re: Traditional East Asian Medicine + Buddhism
Emceecombs: thank you for the resources and experience! I do wonder how much practicing and practices to be healed is counterproductive...but there are definitely therapeutic side effects from practice and improvement (contentment?) in lives. Rev.Jikan: Thank you, I definitely didn't forget about Re...

Re: Shingon in San Jose area California
Ah, I don't know much about their tradition or founder. I have only met the priest (in San Jose) once and we both gave lectures on Tendai and Shingon in the same Japanese history class at USF. So I only know of his activities peripherally. He is quite active in teaching "mikkyo zen" though...

Re: Meditation in Tendai
Well...it is all dharma- freeways, mountains, or buildings! Best is making effort, no matter the practice, and sounds like you are doing just that by visiting the communities and learning directly from teachers.

Yes, the monastery was ashes and now part of nature...and it appears the webmaster has taken the site down for some time. The internet remembers everything though! Saicho's Final Admonitions, Goyuikai
I can't find this anywhere independently on the interwebs and have been using it as a bit of a "daily reflection" to see how I can work with the intructions given by Dengyo Daishi in my own daily life as I cultivate a 'bodhisattva life'. These admonitions continue to influence people and I...
