Re: Confess yourself here for this new year occasion

my issue is with anger. and it is getting worse and is seriously interfering with my meditation practice. knowing i should let go of this does not actually help me to be able to get rid of the anger.

Re: white lies

Lying may always be bad or maybe it is not, but sometimes truth telling is used a weapon to seriously hurt and injure others. There are many with sadistic tendencies who love to use the truth to hurt and wound and, in some cases, to destroy others. So while lying may be bad, truth telling can be evi...

Re: Terminal Treatment

There is no right or wrong way to feel when someone in our lives is dying. Having gone through this over and over again, I would tell you to just be there for your father. How you feel is not even important right now. What is important is being supportive in whatever way the dying individual needs y...

Re: How long will religious freedom last?

As a citizen of the United States of America, I cannot imagine any religion being persecuted in this day and age simply because we love to mix it up. That is, whenever one group starts to dominate we automatically take another side, any side. We tend to not allow any group to control, whether or not...

Re: Saudi preacher gets fine & short jail term

What possible justification is there for such a minimal punishment for a truly heinous crime? I thought rape was a totally unacceptable crime in Saudi Arabia. How did this happen?

Re: Climate Change: We're Doomed

I think that there is a huge problem that is not being addressed and that is that so many people, at least in the United States, simply do not believe that there is a problem at all. Complete, total, denial. I was talking to a colleague about how much hotter our summers are now and how much colder t...

Re: Meditation and your mobile phone

I know that cell phones are considered indispensable these days, but when I retired, back in the dark ages, I literally stomped my pager to death and promised myself that I would never allow an 'electronic leash' to govern my life again. Yes, I know that cells are good for emergencies, but I lived f...

Re: How sane are you?

How sane are you? and the issues with mental illness are not mutually exclusive. A lot of us deal on a daily basis with maintaining our sanity in a challenging environment. Someone quite close to me, on the other hand, has dealt with what I term 'true mental illness' all of his life. For me, Buddhis...

Re: Purpose of modern medicine: no obstacle to economic growth

Just personal experience. I live a very healthy lifestyle. However, i am a full time volunteer in a public institution and am exposed on a regular basis to people who are sick with communicable diseases including all sorts of viral and bacterial illnesses. From time to time I catch one of these beca...
