My edit button is disabled.

It does seem strange that I can edit the posts in this thread but I can't edit or delete the posts in my previous threads.

Can the mods rectify this minor issue here?

Thanks.

Re: Article on Sexual Abuse & Harassment in Buddhist Communi

I have not heard of any Tibetan Lamas who seem to be attracted to thin, young blond white women. Also most Tibetan Lamas are not supposed to have wives or lovers. Sex and even physical contact with members of the opposite sex is prohibited. Most Tibetan men and most Asian men I know, lamas or otherw...

Re: Article on Sexual Abuse & Harassment in Buddhist Communi

The only practical solution is to practice without a teacher. This is not a solution. Practice without a teacher is just not an option. Choosing ones teacher more carefully and leaving at the first sign of abusive behaviour is a more practical solution. Yes, I know, the onus falls on the woman agai...

It amazes me how people can create so many problems. Give them a glass of water, they'll find a way to drown in it.

Re: Meditation on Love will not break you out of Samsara

The problem is that your first post here in this thread is a different view from what you are now saying. You have mixed things up. The first post you made was talking about consciousness. Now you are quoting Dzogchen masters. I can see some of the points you are making but you are mixing things up...

When one is truly enlightened, there is no good or evil. There is no love or hate. . These things don't go away, they just don't hook you like they would your average person, pulling you every which way. Re: Meditation on Love will not break you out of Samsara

In a Buddhist context, love, compassion, equanimity, all the paramitas, all these kinds of things are not necessarily "emotions" like they are in western psych or religion etc. I think the point of something like Tonglen or Metta or whatever is not just to make you feel good or make you n...

Re: Meditation on Love will not break you out of Samsara

When one is truly enlightened, there is no good or evil. There is no love or hate. By remaining attached and fixated to Love, one will undoubtedly conjure up Hate. For Hate only arises when there is Love and Hate will never arise if there is no Love. By remaining attached and fixated to Good, one wi...

26 Lopon comments that when other Buddhist schools hear these teachings they have been very upset in the past and have said that Dzogchen is not Buddhism at all. But Dzogchen is not like the view of Indian or Western materialist philosophy in which the actions in the life have no ultimate consequenc...

Re: Meditation on Love will not break you out of Samsara

These are the four achievements of the person who has achieved the natural state. The Three Capacities of Understanding. These are: 1. Of course the practitioners who have achieved this capacity will have clairvoyance. But they do not care for these signs even if the Dharmakaya appears very brightly...

Re: Meditation on Love will not break you out of Samsara

The second subdivision explains in detail the nature without action; it has three parts. First of all there are the four achievements, then there are the three capacities of understanding, and finally there is the decision without action, which has five points. The Four Achievements. These are: 1. T...

The realms of existence are customarily divided into three distinct "worlds" (loka), listed here in descending order of refinement: The Immaterial World (arupa-loka). Consists of four realms that are accessible to those who pass away while meditating in the formless jhanas. The Fine-Materi...

Re: Meditation on Love will not break you out of Samsara

You don't need love to forgive your enemy.

You don't need to love your enemy to forgive them.

You just merely recognize that the hate which you have in your being for your enemy will bring you back to the next round of rebirth and death if you do decide to let go of all your hate and anger.

Re: Buddhism is peaceful?

So what if Buddhism has a history of violence? Does this mean that its teachings are not valid? The OP and those who participated in this thread clearly lacks the fundamental understanding of the main purpose of Buddhism and all other spiritual paths for that matter. Buddhism and other valid spiritu...

Re: Dreaming in the Food Court

I love Taipei's night markets. I wish all of samsara really was as good as this. You should spend more time frolicking in Taipei's night markets then.. instead of wasting your time working on liberation from samsara.. then you can spend life after life.. thousands and tens of thousands of lifetimes...

The only Gift worth giving is Enlightenment.

The only GIft worth giving to your wife, husband, children, parents, siblings, and all those whom you care about is not money. The only Gift worth giving is not a big house or an expensive car. The only Gift worth giving are not holiday trips to exotic locations or a great university degree. The onl...
