Re: Direct Transmission of Dzogchen
Is Chicago Eastern or Central? If you didn't make it to the World Wide Transmission thirteen hours ago, there's a retreat (that will go open webcast) starting in fourteen hours (2:00 A.M. Eastern Time). And Chögyal Rinpoche always gives the Transmission of Guru Yoga during retreats. Lhug-Pa Thank y...

Re: Layers of the Onion
Since it is a SSI publication, you can find it only in the SSI webstore: http://www.shangshungstore.org/index.php?l=product_detail&p=27 It seems that it's available. Dronma The book is listed on the shangshung store, but can only be added to a wish list and not added to a shopping cart? Mike

What Is Chod in layman's Terms?
What is Chod? It sound's spooky and scary from what I know. Isn't it a ritual means of chopping ones body up to offer other being's? I know that Catholic's beleave Jesus offer's his body for sin's and others believe in the Sin Eaters. I'm sure there are more that I've not heard of. :reading: Mike

Re: Needing A Lama
One of the requisites for practice is the presence of the necessities of life; food, shelter and the like. I foresee an entire class of practitioner that gets serious only in retirement, and a second subclass of expatriates retiring in India, Thailand and the like. It's a lot cheaper to retire in I...

Re: Needing A Lama
Tashi delek M, Thank you for that gem. It's a dream of mine to travel to India and study in a Bon monastery. Unfortunately I am financially embarrassed at the moment and my present health would prohibit my going. I have written to Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche and ask him if he would teach me and he wrote...

Re: Forceful Zhine
Mike, where did you get the meditation instructions to begin this practice? It seem some forum members here think you are supposed to be visualizing, and some using an external support. I have no idea because it all depends on who gave you the instruction, what lineage it is and what is the specifi...

Re: Forceful Zhine
Thats what I was taught too. I was never very 'good' at it...the fact is we each operate in different ways, and visualisation will never come easy to some....Just keep on buggering on as Winston Churchill said, but in a relaxed way... I'm finding some good support here and finding what works best f...

Re: Forceful Zhine
If you're looking at the image of an A and it gets blurry after awhile that's ok, I actually like to slightly cross my eyes on purpose and rest with that blurred vision. Better to start with the visual support before jumping to no support. If you get distracted just bring your attention back to the...

Re: Forceful Zhine
Another method is to look at the A for five seconds or so, then close your eyes and you'll see the after-image. Look at that for five seconds, then open your eyes and and look at it again...repeat again and again, blink, blink, blink and the image will be stronger. Hey Lhasa Thanks for this one!!! ...

Re: Forceful Zhine
Mike, I am not a teacher so don't take what I say to seriously. I just wanted to give you a hand with the visualization. There is huge amount of very advanced visualizations in the Tibetan traditions. In order to do them properly I gave you some suggestions above. Try to understand how easy it is t...

Re: Forceful Zhine
Learning to visualize is an art, closely connected with understanding something about your own mind. Don't push forcefully, you just get very tensed, just let it come as long and as clear as it want to. Think of an ice-cream cone (or your mother or anything else you know well), see that was easy. V...

I'm having trouble keeping focused on the tibetan "A" symbol. I can keep my mind on the "A" and when thought's pop up I can keep from following them. My problem is The letter A starts to get blurry on me after a minute or so. Is it OK to let the A get blurry so long as a thought'...

Hi Mike, I am a newbie here so hello to all and hope to participate a bit if I can. Bhusuku and Tingdzin, Thank you very kindly for your help. I'm very committed to following Bon under Lopon Tenzin Namdak. I have read a few of his books as well as some of Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche books. I'm looking forward to reading "The Nine Ways Of Bon" even more now. I'm still ignorant...
