Re: Origin of Full Length Prostrations
AFAIK Full lenth prostration is part of indian culture, and still exists in hindu religious practices. However it is a once act. A newar buddhist friend used to told me they don't practice it as tibetan people, great numbers (100000...) or circumbulating or doing pilginage.... In their buddhist trai...

Re: Where to Buy Five Metal Rings?
I am afraid what you could find online in so called "tibetan buddhist" shops are not the real stuff used by yogis. Pancha dhatu, saptadhatu, ashta dhatu are very specific alliages used for medical purpose as well as sacred craft. My advice would be to go in India or Nepal, and have a compe...

Nol Sang / Nyingma Kama
In a related thread concerning Riwo Sang Cho Malcom put : "The original sang offering left by Padmsambhava in Tibet i.e. Kama tradition, is the famous Nol sangs i.e. "purifying pollution". Lamas frequently combine this with Riwo Sangcho for a more full effect." My question here :...

As Malcom wrote : "The original sang offering left by Padmsambhava in Tibet i.e. Kama tradition, is the famous Nol sangs i.e. "purifying pollution". Lamas frequently combine this with Riwo Sangcho for a more full effect. " Does anyone knows if an english translation of that Nol S...

Re: Riwo Sangchod - ingredients question
As for the sur question. I brought some sur encense (not specified white or red...but probably the white one) from Shechen, and as I saw they have the 3 white and 3 sweet, I was planning to use in my sang, but after asking Lama Tenzin Samphel, from Dudjom ligneage, He forbid me to do so, telling me ...

In the end of the dogpa part, before dedication, there is a line : Za' Lu Gyäl Po Sog Ug Dü Pa DOg. Yet they are not clearly mentioned as the guests. May be my mistake?

Re: Riwo Sangchod - ingredients question
Of course yes there is animal fat in the 3 white, but the fat used in sur is another one, which is not from milked products, and not ok for the riwo sang chö. There is another point which is not clear for me: The musk is present in regular high grade tibetan incense. And some riwo sang chÖ texts ( a...

When I asked him if it is ok to use guggul in sang, he said "a little is ok". I came to understand he means very little among several kilos of other regular stuff.

Re: Riwo Sangchod - ingredients question
No , 3 white and 3 sweet are ok for any kind of offerings. For Sur, there is usually fat from animals, that is not appropriate for the Riwo Sang Chö. For exemple the ready made sticks for Sur that is avaible from Shechen Gompa are not to be used for Sang. This is why they distribute also special sti...

Re: Riwo Sangchod - ingredients question
From what I learned : For Sang puja, Riwo Sang Chö, any good quality tibetan or buthanes sticks is ok if you want to make it small, at home. If you make more elaborate preparation, any kinds of plants which have a good smell or a medicinal quality is ok, various kinds of flours, various types of gra...
