Re: Dzogchen practice in Dorje Drolo cycle

... from my imperfect understanding, is a pretty extensive and complete cycle--it is not merely a Sadhana for KyeRim of Drollo, but has extensive sections --and instructions--for progressively completing the recitations of "approach" for the various deities. The whole thing is also a body...

I think many people here would disagree with you, respectfully :anjali: This is precisely my point, eh? I am afraid you may have misunderstood me: 1. You said "I am unripe" 2. I said "many people would disagree" - meaning that many people on this forum would see you as ripe (inc...

Re: Dzogchen practice in Dorje Drolo cycle

In this 5 root practice what would mean enlightened activity of Dakini Mandarava? She is usually connected to longevity practices, would it same be here? i don't know. that would highly likely be the case, but if we only do accomplishment for Dorje Drolö and we don't do accomplishment for each of t...

I would have to review, but I believe it would be based on the volume in SheJa Dzo known in English as "Frameworks of Buddhist Philosophy."

I am unripe I think many people here would disagree with you, respectfully :anjali: This is precisely my point, eh? But you are right, most of us (me especially) are unripe. I just defined it for the purpose of the poll in a way that allow people to vote "ripe", in the least strict way po...

Re: POLL: What type of mango-practitioner are you (as per "Letter to a friend" verse 20)?

How can I know how I appear to others? Sometimes, at Dharma Centers, maybe I wear Shamgyur and zen, and seem to know what I am doing in rituals, etc. Sometimes I sit there and say nothing, wearing regular clothes…. I am unripe, as are we all. Yakking about advanced practices on the internet…..we’re ...

Re: Was karmamudra part of ganachakra in the ancient India?

Anyway, I think there is a mixing up between yoga of passion and karmamudra in some of earlier discussions. The former is a post meditation and less formal practice for tantric couple in a solid relationship while the latter requires a great deal of preparation and in some cases, permission from on...

Re: Three isolations of body, speech, mind - what are those?

Just to be clear, the post above is a condensation from Kongtrul’s writing. I have not been taught these systems and do not practice them, so I am not claiming any special knowledge. But there is some overlap, of course, with the methods of other Sarma systems of Dzogrim—so you can have a General un...

Re: Three isolations of body, speech, mind - what are those?

The "three isolations" originated from Arya commentarial tradition of guhyasamaja by Nagarjuna, it's doxography of completion stage and the five paths unique to Gelug. And there were attempts from gelug to synchronise and mapped onto other cycles of practices. For more information, you ca...

Re: Was karmamudra part of ganachakra in the ancient India?

Forgetting about actual Karma mudra as part of a Tsok practice, the Secret Offering is similar to the comments you've made from the sadhana--even aside from Tsok practice or KarmaMudra completion stage. I mean, it's actually part of empowerment. I don't want to get into more detail, though. There ha...

Re: LONG POST: Started in 2007, first recognized nature in 2013, trekcho since then

There are actually 2 things: 1. In the very first moment one awakes one should recognize (transform into) one's yidam (if one has this instruction of course) 2. Then the Awakening yoga verses are a short visualization and recitation that reminds oneself what is important for the new day. For exampl...

Those hats signify monastic morality and are worn in some ceremonies by monks, regardless of lineage. They pre-date Tsong Khapa, if I recall, but were used pretty rarely prior to Geluk’s rise.

Re: Lung vs initiation

Also consecration of an object and empowerment of a person are very different--the basis of each differs, and the purpose of consecration vs. empowerment also differ.

But I don't think this is the place to get into along discussion as to the differences, etc.
