Re: Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche online reading transmission of the 17 Dzogchen Tantras

Tulku Dakpa is actually reading very slowly, especially at times, compared with more 'seasoned' lung masters. Rabjam Rinpoche for example would have finished this in two days max, although admittedly he is famous for his fast reading. I must say that changing schedule in the last minute is very hard...

Re: A Goodbye from the Ayahuasca topic

:coffee: March of 2016, everyone. Exactly. I said what I had to say. I personally find very little use of Internet forums, including this one, at least as far as Tibetan Dharma is concerned. Malcolm's contributions are very nice, for sure, but the whole existence of such forums I personally find ve...

Re: Farewell

Just to say that I never posted in the forum "Introductions", never put a title "Farewell", was never asked whether I want this post moved and made into a separate topic, and, most importantly, would have never done this myself . This was part of the Ahayhasca thread. I made my s...

A Goodbye from the Ayahuasca topic

Just to chime in again and to say that I probably won't be participating in DW any longer. I am sure some people will be happy about that and I wish everybody well. I am not emotionally hurt or anything, I just see here censorship of opinion and scare mongering of the highest order and some vocal pe...

A few still exist. Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche - Kangyur Rinpoche's son - is one. He is 100% capable of what is described in this thread and he is doing it on occasions. He is very much like his father.

Re: How long do you meditate for?

I did a three year retreat on Lamdre, meditating all these topics step by step, and I disagree with you as to what this passage means. However, Tshog bshad is excessively scholastic. I prefer the earlier view of the Lamdre path as expressed by Jetsun Dragpa Gyaltsen. I just prefer the pre-Sakya Pan...

Re: How long do you meditate for?

From the oral explanations of the Lam Dre I have received I remember instructions for up to 7 days of śamatha (single session) as a prerequisite for the next stage of vipaśyanā. I'm not sure I understand. Do you mean 7 days of seated śamatha, focusing on an object etc., no sleeping and eating or wh...

Re: How long do you meditate for?

While he certainly says that by doing short sessions one gradually can remain in śamatha for twenty four hours, he certainly never makes it a precondition for moving along to vipaśyāna, or even Vajrayāna. And certainly, it is the case that that reciting the Hevajra sadhana itself is regarded as the...

Re: How long do you meditate for?

With no intention to engage actively in this discussion I must say that I find several things perplexing. One is the assumption that sadhana practice is somehow not "sitting practice" and has a quality very different from silent absorption. This is amazing to me, as sadhana practice requir...

Re: How long do you meditate for?

All the Dharma friends I know usually never do less than 2-3 hours of sitting practice per day, often more. I have never done less than that either, with long periods (spanning years) of 5+ hours/day, this is outside of retreat of course. In retreat 15+ hours/day sitting not counting he night practi...

Re: Mipham Rinpoche and Dudjom Lingpa

I remember asking one of my lamas many years ago this same question and he said that he thought that they have not met. This was at the time when I was very much into Mipham and wanted to see how he fitted in the Rime movement. It is as anecdotal as it can get, but that's what I remember...

Re: Repairing the damage from fake tantra

If the person was not qualified to give empowerments there was no real samaya and not any stain on your part. There is nothing to worry about. As Malcolm said, you are not at fault. And you should change your username, as being a "spiritual train wreck" permanently is not very auspicious :...

Re: recommended Dzogchen retreats/courses/teachers

I agree with Karma Yeshe that there's no much point to claim who's the 'greatest' alive. People have different definition on what is great and what is 'greater'. Back in 3 months ago, many people would have said Kyabje Jadral Rinpoche is the greatest living Dzogchen master, but Rinpoche was not rea...

Thanks Ivo -- very interesting. Yes it is. The knowledge of these shrunken bodies was very common when I grew up. It was even taught in school as a normal part of the Ortodox tradition and everyone was very comfortable with the idea as everyone had seen these relics as they are all over our monaste...

Re: Mipham Prayer recited by Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok 1 million

Well, Khenpo Sodargye presents the prayer, and in addition explicitly states that it was a "four-sentence prayer to Mipham Rinpoche". Presumably he would know, so ... Of course... sorry for misleading. BTW, there's an English translation by EPK here: http://www.lionsroar.com/in-translatio...

Re: Mipham Prayer recited by Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok 1 million

This probably refers to a different text by Mipham - his mind terma Self Radiance of the Empty Vajra Awareness - A Prayer for the indivisible base, path and fruit of Manjushri Dzogpachenpo, which is a prayer, and is one of the most profound dzogchen texts too, which can definitely lead to the mentio...

Re: Father Francis Tiso Dzogchen & Early Christianity Connec

In Bulgaria, where I come from, in the Eastern Ortodox tradition there are numerous instances of what appears to be the lesser rainbow body among the early isihast mystics. The body shrinking to the size of an infant is considered a very common sign of spiritual accomplishment and these remains are ...

Re: Some Questions about DC

The reference to the Rainbow Body page is... limited. I'm not expecting an E=MC2 proofs... If you want the physics side of things, it is actually quite simple. Everything is vibrational frequencies. By doing certain practices you can raise your vibrational frequency to that of light, and beyond. It...
