2016 Webcast Recording of Guru Dragphur

Hey Guys, I watched this (see attached) webcast a few years ago and I thought I recorded it. I can't seemed to find it. I wrote to Shang Shung Publications and haven't heard back yet. Their FAQ says they aren't able to go retrieve archived webcasts anymore due to reorganization. So I thought I would...

Re: Question about removing christian/etc. baptism

I've always thought that this was an interesting topic even outside of Buddhism. I attended a Catholic baptism a few years ago ( I was brought up Catholic so it was interesting to see what happened to me) and although my Latin is not great I recognized that the baptism involved an Exorcism of any sp...

Re: Instant Presence and Physical Pain

Well, seeing that my OP which I thought was rather innocuous turn into this was quite amazing! :stirthepot: Amazingly off topic but maybe not...we just witnessed a lot of suffering  Thanks to those who chimed in on the actual question. Your right Malcolm, a few seconds of Insta...

Re: Instant Presence and Physical Pain

Honestly, these discussions are silly. One thing they can certainly result in is a massive confusion -- plus an equally massive amount of unrealistic expectations for newcomers to Dzogchen. What do you mean by this exactly? I think its a valid thing to discuss and its something anyone can relate to...

So the Buddha was lying when he said that liberation is the end of suffering?

Re: Instant Presence and Physical Pain

Presence is not a mean to escape from physical pain. Whatever mental/emotional association of the pain will still arise, these will not change due to presence. The question was not posed as a means to "escape" pain at all and your right it will still arise. I am referring more to using an...

Instant Presence and Physical Pain

Could someone comment on how tremendous physical pain (such as gout or a kidney stone) would be experienced if one were to be able to be in instant presence during that moment? My understanding is that this would be like any other experience except potentially more difficult. You would have the sens...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I was wondering if anyone remembers if in the Longsal Ngondro (six lokas combine with Vajrasattva) the long Vajrasattva mantra is sung the same way it is in the Shitro or if we do it the same way we do in the Ganapuja? If I am not mistaken I think you can do both depending on time and circumstances.

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

Hey Virgo...There is a separate text Rinpoche can give for the Sothig breathing. Typically, though he gives it during the Mandarava Drubchen along with explanations. He did last year and the year before. On another note: I was wondering if anyone remembers if in the Longsal Ngondro (six lokas combin...

Yes, but it's generally considered bad form to publish a mantra like that on a public website so I was trying to be "subtle" myself... :spy:

So much for that :stirthepot:

I found this bit of information from Tara Mandala-website: http://taramandala.org/about-kapala-training/ "Machig Lapdrön’s sound method for cutting through discursive thoughts." On Level Two of Kapala Training. Anyone know what it is? Sources? Thanks. I think that is a subtle way of refer...

Re: Clearing Practice Space

what about using the om sumbani mantras like was mentioned? Are you referring to the mantra used in the changchog practice that is transmitted by Chnn? If you have changchog book it explains a little in there. If so, you can burn guggul or dugdze (the sang powder pemachopel mentioned) and do the ma...

Re: Enough of the Penis

There is probably more penis stuff everywhere because as a world society we are driven more by form and means than emptiness and wisdom. For many cultures phallic stuff is a symbol of power: Swords, guns, skyscrapers, flag poles, even the human body as a whole is kind of phallic. everywhere you look...
