I suppose orange is more accurate than red. The Bardor Tulku Rinpoche from nalanda institute teaching says saffron colour which is rather orange than red.

This Commentarry by Kyabje Tenga Rinpoche leaves no questions open and also the text is included in Tibetan, Transliteration and Translation as far as I remember
