Re: Pure lands/Nichiren Shonin's take

See the problem for me was...how can I fit My doctor's theory of every religion uses the same formula of control and power to Buddhism. Well i finally found it in the promise of a afterlife . A guaranteed take you away no matter how stupid you are. I see Nichiren Shonin's teachings how they shaped m...

Pure lands/Nichiren Shonin's take

I recently got myself into a bit of hot water by inadvertently insulting pure land believers. This might sound shocking to you but i never realized people take this seriously, for my introduction to Buddhism was through Nichiren Shonin. So when we read that pure land and Nembutsu were just some sort...

Re: Jōdo Shinshū and Mappō

Now it seems the new angle is it will happen when you die... DeathBed Awakening!!!! Yayness galore....thats the ticket... This "new angle" is nothing new. It goes all the way back to the early stuff. Might I remind you that you are on the Pure Land subforum. Pure Land doctrine is held as ...

Re: ¿What a buddhist title really means?

living in the worse of degenerate times when most Dharma is of no use and lost it's abilities makes for all sort of confusions..not to mention money making opportunities. I've met people who radiate love...at least they still come here to show us what is possible. Welcome to Mappo . A time when the ...

Re: Jōdo Shinshū and Mappō

The concept of mappō doesn't resonate well with many people in the west who view this day & age as superior to the time of the Buddha. Also the fact that because of it certain Dharma have lost their ability . we can't have that now can we...look at all the money these people are giving to somet...

Re: Minobu's Muse: Lord Nagarjuna, The Lotus Sutra, The Gakki

Namaste, I will just add one thing to a comment that said that nagas are responsible for cancers and disease. This is such a mundane understanding. In Bhagavat Purana Prariksit Maharaja was bitten by Taxila Naga, it was a curse of a Brahmin, on the outside it was seen as though he was cursed to die...

Re: Surangama Sutra as an anti-Dzogchen intervention

it is possible to stop rebirth at the moment of death. . Why would you want to? sounds like you are looking for never never land, or a constant bliss state or something as such, which i knew are out there and are like dangling in front you like a carrot on a stick. As a buddhist one should always h...

Re: Surangama Sutra as an anti-Dzogchen intervention

[ in the lotus sutra are recorded predictions of the enlightenment of many students, but it's difficult for me to think that after such explanation boddhicitta still remain inactive and all the merit beyond measure that develops remain passive on them. . Not passive at all. more of a latent protect...

Re: Surangama Sutra as an anti-Dzogchen intervention

students in more than 2.500 years of Buddhist history on earth have not attained Buddhahood through at least some sutra understanding ? some not of course, but it is obvious that someone somewhere at sometime yes!. In the other hand, by today still exists contrastable proofs that dzogchen teachings...

Re: Trump is a Russian Puppet hahahahaha

The whole thing stinks . it gets worse each day. This guy tweets in the middle of the night like a twitter addict. :rolling: what he did at a media brief on Friday was nothing less than megalomania. and the nightmare continues from that page As CNN's Jim Acosta pleaded to ask a question, Trump repea...

Re: Surangama Sutra as an anti-Dzogchen intervention

Don't be ridiculous. The only that not accepted here is gyalpo practice. The Lotus Sutra is a Mahayana Sutra whereas the view I'm explaining comes from Highest Yoga Tantra. I thought were are not allowed to discuss gyalpo practice? A geshe once me told the highest teaching was in the Lotus Sutra. H...

Re: Surangama Sutra as an anti-Dzogchen intervention

i'm a little upset today an entire paradigm shift occurred .... All my teachings were basically from That Geshe , and His Holiness the Ninth Khalkha Jetsun Dhampa Rinpoche and Zasep Tulku Rinpoche. Chanting the Daimoku with Gohonzon in the degenerative age.
That might sound totally unintellectual for some...but the reality is ..that is enlightenment in Mappo .

Re: Surangama Sutra as an anti-Dzogchen intervention

the very title of this thread is loathe some in this degenerative age. Nah. Different Buddhists and Buddhist schools have been debating each other's faces off for millennia. We'll be fine. Which reminds me: how do you feel about Nichiren's use of polemic and hyperbole in his public discourses? I te...
