Hello Everyone!
Hello Everyone!
My name is John and I'm a college student at Rutgers University in NJ. I'm actually taking a class on Buddhism at the moment and it has really spoken to me. I have become extremely interested in pursuing it more, which is why I decided to come here. I was wondering if anyone would be able to recommend any literature worth reading for newcomers to Buddhism and any general tips on how to get started? I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!
Re: Hello Everyone!
Hi John,
Welcome from a fellow newcomer to the forums.
I would personally recommend "How To Practice: The Way to a Meaningful Life." By His Holiness the Dalai Lama. It is a great introductory text to Buddhism and meditation and as the title suggests, the way to a meaningful life. It is available for free as an audiobook on youtube:

or very very reasonably priced as an e-book.

I was looking more along the lines of online texts but that works as well!lobster wrote:Hi John,

It is practically impossible for me to post links without some helpful moderators intervention. I would suggest starting with Wikipedia, Google and perhaps here if permissible . . .Johnacea wrote:I was looking more along the lines of online texts but that works as well!lobster wrote:Hi John,
