How mind and body interact?

Post by pael »

Mind can't arise from matter, right? So, how they can interact with each other? What binds mind and body together?

This is a dilemma that has to arise from viewing mind and body dualistically. Such a view has many uses, even though it is incorrect at the root.

I think that in Buddhist terms the question is akin to asking "what causes the five skandhas to bind together/aggregate?"

In the twelvefold chain, the five skandhas become "namarupa." So what binds the nama to the rupa, and why did the Buddha present them as one term?
