Although, it is hard to overestimate Linjis teachings, it can be done. They are very direct and deep, but still limited. If one takes them as a view, and go without application, it will become just another view, very strong, and "correct" one. So, instead of using it to remove a painful thorn, we will thrust another one, bigger, equipped with a hook of "correctness".
I think that those and other teachings should be treated like devices that turn into dust after application.
