Deep Breath in Buddhism

Post by Nosta »

I found a book where the author says that deep breath is not good for health (may cause hyperventilation, hypocapnia, over use of upperchest muscles, and over stimulation of the sympathetic system).

I tought that sometimes, in Buddhism, it is given attention to the way we breath: fast breath may not be good, deep breath is good, etc.

What does Buddhism teeach regarding the way we breath? Is there any teachings regarding breath, on Tibetan Buddhism (or other school)?

Thanks

through specific mix of breathing and concentrations we can induce diferent mental states.
in tibetan buddhism there are pranayamas for pacifying our mind for example.
look for pranayama information, that might help

best regards
true dharma is inexpressible.

The bodhisattva nourishes from bodhicitta, through whatever method the Buddha has given him. Oh joy.
