I may be moving to that area and I wondered how the area is for Mahayana buddhist temples and especially if the area is a good place for a Buddhist parent to raise a child? I would be moving blind, having never seen the area. I have an opportunity for a job transfer. Any thoughts will be appreciated, and I promise I won't take away your birthday if you have negative comments. :)

An analysis done in 2012 listed Portland at number 13 on the list of Most Buddhist Cities in the U.S.

I'm on the ground here, and I'll vouch that there is a lot of Buddhist action in Portland. I hope you find the right fit for you...

Hi! :hi:

Portland is very dharma friendly. Most of the sanghas seem to be on the Northeast and Southeast side, but you'll find representation from many, many schools. I personally attend at the Oregon Buddhist Temple, a Shin gathering.

Best of luck to you! Hope to see you around.
