Questioning moderators posts.

Post by frank123 »

If a moderator gives their opinion in a tread and posts the Tos to back up their claim(even if there was no breach of the Tos in the tread) are we allowed to comment directly in the tread or do we have to message them privately?

Of course you can discuss things with a moderator just the same as with any other member. What you can't do is question mod decision in a thread, throw accusations of bias etc. There are procedures for this and interrupting a thread with this stuff just disrupts the flow of the discourse for everyone. If a mod believes that ToS have been breached or is reminding members of the ToS in order to avert breach, this is a Mod action and should not be challenged in the thread.

Basically the Dharma Wheel Forum is for the discussion of Buddhadharma not for the discussion of Dharma Wheel Forum, the way it's run, etc especially not when they disrupt a thread. There is the Suggestion Box for constructive suggestions and changes and there is the PM function to contact the Mods, the Site Owner, David Snyder or me if you feel you've been treated unfairly.

Dharma Wheel administrators and moderators are first and foremost members of Dharma Wheel and as such are entitled to express their views and opinions in threads the same as all registered users. Staff expressing their personal views and opinions in threads should not be mistaken for acts of administration/moderation. The staff will make it clear when they are performing an act of administration/moderation. Please read the Terms of Service-Reporting Procedures to see how to proceed if you disagree with or wish to complain about an act of administration/moderation.

If you have a complaint about an act of moderation...

Attempt to resolve the issue with the moderator in question first (if known, and if online) via PM, and if that is unsuccessful, please raise the issue with an adminstrator via PM. If your complaint is against an administrator, tell the other administrator. Complaints will be investigated by an administrator using the Terms Of Service as a framework. The words and actions of all members (including moderators and administrators) will be assessed with respect to the Terms Of Service and you will be notified of the outcome of your complaint via PM or e-mail. As with public complaints about posts, please do not publicly complain about moderation, as that is disruptive to the forum and is not the appropriate method for resolving such disputes.

If you're still unhappy about the outcome, after all that...

If after all that, you're still dissatisfied, contact site owner, David N. Snyder via PM. He owns this site and therefore he has the final word.

Hope this makes it clear. It's all geared towards creating a good environment for constructive discussion of the Buddhadharma. That's all.
