Both are essential for the Path. This talk by Ven. Yin Shun gives the reasons for needing both and the bad results of favoring one but not the other.

Re: Unity of Wisdom and Faith
As the saying goes:
Faith without wisdom will develop ignorance; wisdom without faith will develop a perverted view.
May all seek, find & follow the Path of Buddhas.
Re: Unity of Wisdom and Faith
We say that unsurpassed awakening [bodhi] has faith as its cause. The causes of awakening are innumerable, but if stated as faith, this covers everything.

Re: Unity of Wisdom and Faith
In this example of the so called great perfection, whatever tradition, teaching, guidance, study, contemplation and meditation all are coming together into genuine liberating faith in which is nothing to hold.
Ultimate truth or Buddhas' meaning.
Ultimate truth or Buddhas' meaning.
Some googling results:The eight qualities of understanding the ultimate truth
Are expounded in the sutras and
All this falls naturally into place in the great perfection
By pointing out the true nature of mind,
Effected by the guru’s blessing.
This is not within the scope of ordinary minds,
And those who are experts at discursive thoughts
Will have no taste of it.

So it is said.
The Venerable Subhuti said to the Buddha, "In times to come, will there be people who, when they hear these teachings, have real faith and confidence in them?"
The Buddha replied, "Do not speak that way, Subhuti. Five hundred years after the Tathagata has passed away, there will still be people who enjoy the happiness that comes from observing the precepts. When such people hear these words, they will have faith and confidence that here is the truth. We should know that such people have sown seeds not only during the lifetime of one Buddha, or even two, three, four, or five Buddhas, but have, in truth, planted wholesome seeds during the lifetimes of tens of thousands of Buddhas.... http://www.ic.sunysb.edu/Clubs/buddhism ... mond1.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The Mahayana frequently links faith with discernment and spiritual insight (prajna)
"If a person does not possess faith and insight [prajna], such a person increases his ignorance. If a person possesses insight, but not faith, such a person will increase [his/her] distorted views. ..."

“We are each living in our own soap opera. We do not see things as they really are. We see only our interpretations. This is because our minds are always so busy...But when the mind calms down, it becomes clear. This mental clarity enables us to see things as they really are, instead of projecting our commentary on everything.” Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo.
