Help contribute Quotes for 'Just dharma quotes' blog & App

Post by Vasana »

Hi everyone,

Some of you may know about the blog and mobile app http://quotes.justdharma.com/
They provide an invaluable service by collecting and sharing countless byte-sized gems of dharma right into your palms.
The Dharma is the noblest of all gifts, the best of all tastes and the best of all delights. ~Buddha

The purpose of this post is to ask for anyone who has the time, to help contribute some quotes, pith instructions ,key points etc which we can then collate and send to them, to eventually share via their media-platforms to their extended audiences.

The guy who runs the blog is supportive of this idea, so long as we know that what ultimately gets posted will be subject to his own review because it's a blog reflecting his personal likes after all. (although it's clearly very far-reaching in breadth and scope)

Guidelines:
• Quotes must always have a reference.
(Author, Book/Sutra/website title, page number & translator when applicable...the more detailed the better)
• Before submitting something, please check on the website that the quote isn't already listed.
• Nothing too Tantric /Deity focused ( quotes need to be accessible and hopefully useful to non-buddhists too)
• Nothing deemed 'restricted'

^ Take a look on the site to get an idea of the authors and masters and topics already shared to get an idea for whether there is potential value in sharing something or not.

For the time being, please post anything in this thread and if anyone has any suggestions for a more efficient and organized way to collate these quotes feel free to share.

There are such collections of sayings in the canons. In the Pali Canon the most well known is the Dhammapada. The other collection is called the Udana. Zen has many similar collections, in English probably the biggest one is Zen's Chinese Heritage.
1 Myriad dharmas are only mind.
Mind is unobtainable.
What is there to seek?

2 If the Buddha-Nature is seen,
there will be no seeing of a nature in any thing.

3 Neither cultivation nor seated meditation —
this is the pure Chan of Tathagata.

4 With sudden enlightenment to Tathagata Chan,
the six paramitas and myriad means
are complete within that essence.

Thanks Astus.Feel free to post those you feel most relevant if you have the time.

The last quote in your signature is a good example of the kind of thing i could imagine seeing being shared.

i know at least some of you have some quotes from masters hidden in books that you might have not encountered anywhere else online but still find useful.
