5 Buddha families & their samaya(s)

Post by Soap-Bubble »

I received the samaya (or multiples of those?) of five buddha families from two teachers and for two different empowerments and I still do not know what they are! Neither of them explained, and googling doesn't shed any light on existence of a samaya related to buddha families.

I found a video of some teacher which sounds like it's on topic:

At 36 minutes he starts talking about Vairochana and how there are six samayas connected to Vairochana. Translator is too quiet and I can't hear half of what he's saying. Is that what I'm looking for and where else can I clarify this samaya\samayas?

Get yourself a copy of Kongtrul's "Buddhist Ethics." That's the best source I can think of...

"Absolute Truth is not an object of analytical discourse or great discriminating wisdom,
It is realized through the blessing grace of the Guru and fortunate Karmic potential.
Like this, mistaken ideas of discriminating wisdom are clarified."
- (Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche, from his summary of "The Ocean of Definitive Meaning")
