What is the sutra and or passage that talks about what to trust.
It is something like "Don't trust something because your told, don't trust ritual and history, don't trust tradition, don't trust sacred texts, don't trust logic, etc."

It seems you are thinking of the "Kalama Sutta": http://www.fakebuddhaquotes.com/do-not- ... -heard-it/. A very minor sutta in which its importance has been blown out of proportion by some audiences.Christopherxx wrote:What is the sutra and or passage that talks about what to trust.

AN 3.65, Kalama Sutta
If you read it, you might see that it's more nuanced than "Don't trust something because your told, don't trust ritual and history, don't trust tradition, don't trust sacred texts, don't trust logic, etc."

canki sutta too. Explanation of proper approach to dharma, and anything actually. Balancing trust, conviction, confidence with healthy inquiry.
There is no suffering to be severed. Ignorance and klesas are indivisible from bodhi. There is no cause of suffering to be abandoned. Since extremes and the false are the Middle and genuine, there is no path to be practiced. Samsara is nirvana. No severance achieved. No suffering nor its cause. No path, no end. There is no transcendent realm; there is only the one true aspect. There is nothing separate from the true aspect.

That's very true. Here are some articles about the sutta:Mkoll wrote:AN 3.65, Kalama Sutta

It's probably not quite fair to just call it a "minor sutta," but certainly fair to say it suffers from inaccurate reproduction.Lotus_Bitch wrote:It seems you are thinking of the "Kalama Sutta": http://www.fakebuddhaquotes.com/do-not- ... -heard-it/.
