Finding a Chinese sutra

Post by lotwell »

Hi all,

I'm wondering if there are any Chinese scholars out there than could give me a hand. I'm trying to track down a sutra which I presume to exist in the Chinese tripitaka. The titles are as follows:

Tibetan: ’phags pa byang chub sems dpa’ byams pa dga’ ldan gnam du skye ba blangs pa’i mdo
Chinese: Guan Ji [Mi]le Pusa Shangsheng Doushuaitian Jing
English: The Noble Maitreya’s Rebirth in Tuṣita Heaven Sūtra

I have no experience looking up Chinese sutras or finding their English translations (BDK?).

Any assistance from the fine scholars here would be greatly appreciated!

You need the taisho numbers. Then you can find it on cbeta. If you can't find the number, I can probably look it up for you later

How did you find it using pinyin? I can never tell what pinyin is trying to say!

Hi all,

I just realized I never replied! I want to extend many thanks to you all for helping me track down this sutra.

I imagine that it must be translated in the BDK tripitaka? I've been searching around but have not been able to locate it. Perhaps it does not exist? Any help on this would be immensely appreciated as I'm doing a comparison with the Tibetan translation.

Many, many thanks!

This scripture is mentioned at the beginning of chapter 10 of Nan Huai-chin's "To Realize Enlightenment."

No English translation, it would seem.
