Emergency fund ?

Post by kirtu »

This morning I saw yet another story of a family losing everything in a disaster. In this case a lady and her family in California were caught in a mudslide that destroyed her home. Her family escaped but the home is a total loss and her insurance company will not cover the damage as they didn't have flood insurance.

well the simple solution is that everyone pitch in and give her a quarter or a dollar, etc. In fact there are so many such stories that people can get overwhelmed but this is an actual solution. There may already be such funds. The Catholic Church for example does this.

What do you think? Are the current avenues of funding sufficient or is it necessary to create another fund to help people?

“Where do atomic bombs come from?”
Zen Master Seung Sahn said, “That’s simple. Atomic bombs come from the mind that likes this and doesn’t like that.”

"Even if you practice only for an hour a day with faith and inspiration, good qualities will steadily increase. Regular practice makes it easy to transform your mind. From seeing only relative truth, you will eventually reach a profound certainty in the meaning of absolute truth."

People looking to fundings providing help to others are not always sure the money or other help comes completely in needed hands. Simple give from themselves directly breaks the bridge of doubt. Maybe therefore in villages, quarters of cities people can ask eachother to have a kind of box or pot in which everyone can add what is possible in case fellows are in need, a coin or a small note with free soup, cloth...kind of local human care organised among themselves only.
