Metta chants/Meditation

I practice in the Soto Zen tradition and they never do metta chants/Meditations. However I want to incorporate it into my daily practice at home, obviously not at the dojo. I like doing this as I feel it brings me out of myself and gives me a sense of compassion and interest in others. Due to my depression and anxiety I often get far too self involved and metta helps with this.
For those of you who do it I want to run by it with you and see what you think. Also do you think it's better to chant it, or just quietly think it in one's mind?

Firstly to myself ;

May I be safe
May I be happy
May I be healthy
May I live with ease

Then To someone or something I love ;

May you be safe
May you be happy
May you be healthy
May you live ease

Then to someone who may be suffering

Then to someone neutral

Then someone I am having difficulties with

Then to all beings ;

May all beings be safe
May all beings be happy
May all beings be healthy
May all beings live with ease
