Thinking of not thinking

Post by nirmal »

I'M NOT GOING TO THINK

Hundreds of years of being told and retold
Never does this stuff get any more cold
I'll hit it again with my hand so old
You might see sand, or a glitter of gold

I'm just a burnt seed
I've lost germination power
With the strength of a burnt string
How could I bind you over?

Don't just meditate,
And empty your poor self
Thinking "I'm not going to think,"
For that is thought itself

Be like a sleeping child
So peaceful, so calm
Be like a calm ocean
With no waves to come

Be like a lamp
So steady without breeze
That will help you settle
Your wild mind at peace

Look at the vapor
Rising from the water
And yet from the water
It does not differ

Look at the ice
So hard and strong
Yet it's just water
In another form

Be a magician
To make yourself headless
Tune down your senses
And you'll be bodyless

Listen to your heart
It sings the mantra
Reduce its speed
To gain a step extra

Your mind is on your breath
So smooth the flow
Surrender your breath
Let nature have a go

Like a dying man
To nothing you hold
Then will come a moment,
You'll vanish without being told

Normally I am not a fan of amateur writing, but I really like this. Thanks Nirm.

Thank you in fact,Catmoon. But the problem still remains as it was.The cows here are still very angry and upset insisting that it was a cow that jumped over the moon. Now they have formed a bigger gang calling over all the spiritual cows. There was a strike by an assembly of Indian spiritual cows outside my house one night. Take a look at this picture.Their moo sounded like 'a-yo-yo-amma'
