Spontaneous "Samadhi"

Many years ago I had this strange experience: I was homeless and so, much of my day was concerned with finding a place to relax without being messed with by cops, security, other homeless people, and so on. One of my spots was this very busy bus stop in a very busy intersection. Sitting there one day, I had this overwhelming perception that everyone was running around like chickens with their heads cut off. For about 6-7 hours I sat calmly taking it all in, but inside me there was a strong desire for them to "wake up" or to "stop", and realize what they were doing. I suppose this feeling may be comparable to bodhichitta? Anyway, after so many hours of this, all of a sudden all sensory information just vanished. I was in a void, there was a very strong impression of emptiness, but it did also seem to be filled with "light". While my environment had radically changed, my mind was exactly the same. I 'knew" that i was sitting at a bus stop, somewhere. I tried to instigate the act and sensation of standing up and taking a step forward, but all that happened was that I felt myself "move" up infinitely and forward infinitely, but that in this void any one location is the same as any other, no matter what I did I would be surrounded by infinity. Almost immediately after this, a green viscous material appeared and molded itself into all the forms which were previously surrounding me, then the colors, smells, touch, and sound came back in a kind of a sudden "slap".

At the time, i had only a very cursory knowledge of Buddhism and no experience with yoga whatsoever. Some years later it was proposed to me that this was an experience of Samadhi, and that it wasn't terribly uncommon for this to happen to ordinary people who find themselves in unintentionally single-pointed meditative states. It was also suggested that I might've just had a minor stroke. Now I know that there are many unusual states of mind, broken down into various levels and whatnot. So I am wondering what this experience my be described as in technical terms. Also, I later discovered the Buddha Families and finding out that Karma was associated with the color green, thought that this might be related to my experience.

I am no technition so I can't verse a opinion in that regard. But there no replies so I will venture one...

It sounds like you have had a bit of a spiritual awakening or spiritual incident. Stroke/transient ischemic attack...no I don't think so.

I have had such things most usually in a more formalized setting(though I have not a smigen of spiritual advancement) with the color yellow as predominance sometimes.
This to my opinion was related to the spectrum of awareness it was operating in. Each color has a corrospondance to each aspect of awareness. There are books available my favorite being one by Thrangu a great rinpoche that describe the colors of awarenesses and such in much greater detaii, beyond just karma is green this is this color that is that color and things of that sort.

I personally don't make to much of it other than to be glad such occurs. When they do it is quite entertaining and I seem to learn a bit from it.
So it is useful.
