‘View like the sky’ means that nothing is held onto in any way whatsoever. You are not stuck anywhere at all. In other words, there is no discrimination as to what to accept and what to reject; no line is drawn separating one thing from another. ‘Conduct as fine as barley flour’ means that there is good and evil, and one needs to differentiate between the two. Give up negative deeds; practice the Dharma. In your behaviour, in your conduct, it is necessary to accept and reject.” Guru Rinpoche

Yes, agreed.

Consider Moses, Elijah, Buddha, Jesus and Mohamed. They all left their ordinary lives for 40 days to connect with the Indwelling Spirit.

Its a bunch of new twaddle.

Wow..I followed the link.

It's undeniably not Dzogchen..but I doubt if it's Buddhism at all any recognisiable form.

What on earth is he up to these days? I do not recognize him anymore.

To paraphrase a Rumi translation (seems appropriate here) I guess I am simply the cement and stone of my own prison. :)

You don't have to doubt because it isn't Buddhadharma. This video should be moved to http://dharmapaths.com/

This, and the Campbell-style (or Jungian) universalism, is par for the course.

Actually, AT is based in Pt. Richmond and I believe he lives in Kensington. I wasn't trying to say that that video is somehow a Dzogchen teaching, and in fact I didn't really listen to it very carefully. It's just that this is the de facto AT thread and I like to keep track of his activities here. That Winter Feast for the Soul is not my kind of thing, but who knows, maybe people benefit from his association with it. Anyway the mods should feel free to delete my post if they see fit.

So do I have this right...although this teacher appears not to teach Dzogchen, a thread in the Dzogchen forum is his de facto thread?

I don't understand the big deal.

I don't know AT teachings at all, but this appears to be just a typical interfaith/new age sort of thing. Other Lama's participate in things like this, that doesn't indicate it's their main thing, does it? is HHDL then now a neuroscientist scientist and no longer a Buddhist for all his Mind and Life stuff?

Is there something specific in the video that people object to beyond the new age type program it's associated with? I didn't watch the entire thing but what I did watch seemed pretty standard 'secularized' advice you'd get from many teachers. Not my style, but I don't really get why it elicited the response it did.
May the eyes of living beings be gladdened by skies made splendid by clouds
that lightnings garland, while on earth below, the peacocks dance with joy as
showers of rain, falling gently, approach.
