Meditating from the depths of one's own heart on impermanence and loving kindness as commonly taught in Mahayana.

I don't see that as being all fluffy either in my mind I see that as being mindful of our dimension and being respectful of others...as best as I can.

Also here are marvelous slokas on Bodhichitta by Vairochana:
The Song of the Beneficial Qualities of Bodhicitta Illustrated with Six Similes

Bodhicitta is precious;
like the sun and moon, giving clear illumination.
Bodhicitta is precious;
like space, having never existed.
Bodhicitta is precious;
like Sumeru, never changing place.
Bodhicitta is precious;
like a river, always flowing.
Bodhicitta is precious;
like a rainbow, it cannot be held.
Bodhicitta is precious;
like a gem, the source of needs and wants.

Any traditional method can be used but bodhicitta is natural in Dzogchen practice. It just naturally arises from practice. No specific method is needed to create it.

Since this is the anniversary of Adzom Drugpa, it will be the practice with Guru Padmasambhava in the form of Nangsi Silnon.

Best,

Unfortunately, the streaming quality is always low-quality SD. Technology isn't DC's strong suit. But you don't watch for clear, unstuttering video, you watch because ChNN has so much to offer. :anjali:

Prayer to ChNN Rinpoche on his birthday.

Long life in good health and may all your wishes be fulfilled.

Heartfelt thanks for the 120 Teachings in 500 retreats!!!

Heartfelt thanks for the 40 students who have completed level 3 of the SMS.

May all your students quickly complete the path you have shown.

Heartfelt thanks that you are still here and teaching!

How rare, fleeting and precious!

Sad to loose Enrico.
I disagreed with his management and political style but for those who liked his style, including ChNNR, he was very good and helpful.
Impermanence is a great teacher. Better to do good now!

Sincere condolences to his family, friends, and Rinpoche.

Hi guys,

Is it okay (though obviously not ideal) to recite the SOV without the melody, e.g. in a more simple rhythmic chanting style, or faster, etc.?

Thanks!

This is Dzogchen teaching. No specific practice includes no need to generate special feelings by an act of intention. According to ChNN attempts to feel compassion or loving kindness actually act against their natural uprising.

I am buying the book on lojongs, semdzins and rushan. I'm wondering if I might need one of the CDs to go along with that. If so which one? Thanks vajra siblings!!

You don't need any CD to follow the book on Lojongs, Rushens and Semdzins.

Never heard Rinpoche say that, can you provide a quote?

Felix, this is from ChNNR's "The Foundation of the path" page 64:

"The greatest help we can give others comes after having attained absolute Bodhicitta, but this doesn't mean wait until we have attained it. If I see someone falling down on the road because he is very weak and hasn't got any food I can help him up and offer him a plate of food, but when I go away that person is back where he started. It would be better to teach how to get his own food every day, and better still to teach him how to resolve his problem radically, maybe by using chudlen. But in order to teach him chudlen I myself must have the capacity to use it. So, as I continue to practice and realise something, I manage to help others more and more: in the meantime I help them in any way I can."

I at no point said that ChNN downplays or negates Bodhicitta.What I said was that he has said (in my hearing) that he cautioned us against striving to feel empathy or striving to feel compassion because it is counter productive. I am paraphrasing his words.
As he says one way we generate Bodhicitta is by acts of compassion. This is not dependant on our subjective mindset.
