i have never participated in a Drubchen but i think its some benefit if you chant the mantra non stop for the duration of the drubchen even if you do it at your home, just sent a mental body to the drubchen center and leave it there and chant the mantra or something...
If the thought of demons
Never rises in your mind,
You need not fear the demon hosts around you.
It is most important to tame your mind within....

In so far as the Ultimate, or the true nature of being is concerned,
there are neither buddhas or demons.
He who frees himself from fear and hope, evil and virtue,
will realize the insubstantial and groundless nature of confusion.
Samsara will then appear as the mahamudra itself….

Hopefully they will give us some suggestions for what to do if we want to continue participating.

I was thinking I would do the sadhana repeatedly for the duration of the drubchen.

I guess we'll just have to respond to the situation when it arrives, should be a great boost for all whatever happens.

i think that in drubchen you are suppose to chant the mantra 24 hours a day for the duration of the Drubchen but im not 100% sure.

No one individual will chant the mantra 24 hrs a day for the duration. During the drubchen (or great accomplishment ) the mantra will be recited 24 hours a day for the duration but this will be done by many different people in shifts.

i think i read from the email that i got or from the website that they will recite from 5am to 7 pm and you will get 6 hours of sleep divided into two periods during the Drubchen.

I sent an email and asked them to ask Garchen Rinpoche for instructions on how to participate in the drubchen without the streaming. And I also asked them to try to stream the ending of the drubchen.
If you search on ustream, you can find recorded drubchen practice sessions, with chanting, that you can use to participate at home.

Hello Everyone,

In response to your requests it will be possible to receive Refuge Vows from H.E. Garchen Rinpoche by streaming when he gives the vows this Sunday. The ceremony will be streamed at 1:00 pm Mountain Standard Time, November 17, on the Ustream channel for the Vajrakilaya events: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/vajrakila ... hings-2013

To receive the vows from Rinpoche via streaming, he asks that you send the following to Garchen Institute:

1. a short clipping of a few strands of your hair cut close to the scalp—the clipping should be about 1/2-inch long, or shorter if your hair is not that long
2. a small picture of yourself
3. your name and mailing address

Mail to:
Refuge Vows
Garchen Institute
PO Box 4318
Chino Valley, AZ 86323

In return, you will receive a card with your refuge name and blessings from the ceremony.

Emaho! May all be auspicious!

maybe its the vow to take refuge in the triple gem, and does not include the lay vow's. i think it has to be the vow to take refuge and not the lay vow's.

No, that is a separate ceremony.

Refuge indeed confers the five lay vows, but magnus is also correct in that there is a separate pratimoksha ordination which is classified as Hinayāna, usually given to those who plan on becoming monks or nuns. In general, when Tibetan lamas give refuge, they are doing so from a Mahāyāna system.

Email instructions for drubchen at home from Garchen Institute.

"Rinpoche has always said the easiest way to participate in our drubchens
from afar is to recite the deity's mantra as much as you can each day.
Vajrakilaya's mantra is:

OM BENZAR KILI KILAYA SARWA BIGNEN BAM HUNG PHAT

We do six sessions a day, each of which is opened with the first part of the
sadhana up to the point where the mantra is recited, then the mantra is
recited for the rest of the session until near the end, and then the rest of
the sadhana is recited. This can also be done at home. The six session times
here are: (note: the mantra is recited during any of the time not accounted
for in the schedule)
9 am - noon
2 - 5 pm
7-9 pm
9 pm - 1 am
1 - 5 am
5 - 9 am

The sadhana is available through our Webstore at:

http://www.garchen.net/GBI-Shop/index.p ... cPath=4_26&
products_id=656&zenid=c4fd3a6c79f3fc6eb502a8b633ddbf3d

We don't know if the ending session can be streamed, but are glad to make
the request.

Many blessings,"
