Hello!
I am currently researching Karma Kagyu Buddhism, but really am not sure where to start.
I am most interested in:
1. History
2. Practices
3. Lineage
4. Symbolism
5. Clothing
Does anyone know good resources to find any or all of these? I have searched through the forum but have not come up with anything.
Thanks so much!!!!!!

Some basic info here, look under the "Kagyu Lineage" tab. Also, the Wiki entry under "Kagyu" isn't too bad for a general overview.

The Jewel Ornament of Liberation by Gampopa (the Karma Kagyu bible!).
The Torch of Certainty by Jamgon Kongtrul (classic explanatory text on the preliminaries).
The Hundred-Thousand Songs of Milarepa (Milarepa at his finest).
Tantric Treasures: Three Collections of Mystical Verse from Buddhist India (to get a taste of what the early masters Tilopa and Saraha were all about).

Re: Karma Kagyu Reading List?
I believe it appropriate here to mention that the Naropa & Mila stories were very harmful to my practice. They set me back decades, really. Tibetans find them inspiring. I find them horrifying. Because of my acute cowardice in my approach to practice, I have had to dismiss them as not relevant to how I go about it. Mila would probably be ashamed of me, but that is the best that I can do...
