What is the source of this Milarepa verse?

Post by omph »

Does anyone know what the source of this Milarepa verses is? Is it part of a song?

“The affairs of the world will go on forever. Do not delay the practice of meditation.”

I don't know the source of that particular translation, but it seems to be the related to this verse, from Chang's "Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa", chapter 20, "Milarepa's Meeting With Kar Chon Repa":
Affairs and business will drag on forever,
So lay them down and practice now the Dharma.
If you think tomorrow is the time to practice,
Suddenly you find that life has slipped away.
Who can tell when death will come?
Of course, it is a commonly expressed sentiment, so it could be from something else too.
There is not only nothingness because there is always, and always can manifest. - Thinley Norbu Rinpoche
