Kapala style

Post by jmlee369 »

I've always been curious as to why the kapalas used by Gelug practitioners seem distinct from that of other traditions. The distinctive feature being the half-bow shaped wind mandala with banners forming the base. I've also wondered if they're available for purchase online. Any thoughts?

I have not noticed such a difference......do you have illustrations?

Sound identical to all the kapala I have ever seen.

These are just more elaborate models, the others without the base are the standard models without the optional extras. The extras are assumed.

i think these are not especially/extraordinary in gelugpa-system - there are non-gelug-texts wich presents them exactly like that.... f.e. chod & dharmapala, etc.
