Anybody heard of Kadampa Buddhism?

Post by Ervin »

I have found out about a Budhdhist place over here in Melbourne cbd that runs meditation classesa and the branch is called Kadampa.

Now, I have read a bit about it on the internet but was wandering if someone could give me a bit more insight into it.

The are a number of very good and reputable temples in melbourne. I did a quick google search and found several.

these two in particular:
http://chungtai.org.au/en/
and
http://www.ddmmelbourne.org.au

I would recommend these over the temple you mentioned for sure.
Your fortunate to live in a place with so much buddha dharma

Hi Ervin

Have a look at the Dharmawheel TOS re Dolgyal/Shugden. That will give you key phrases that you can then search about New Kadampa. What attracted you to this group? Perhaps some of us we can help you find an alternative based on local knowledge.

Best wishes

The Drol Kar centre is actually located outside Geelong. It's a good centre but rather some distance from Melbourne. Tara Institute is another Gelugpa centre that's closer (it's in Brighton).

Understood. And very kind. Since we're not really discussing the main topic (which is against the TOS) perhaps it can stay open so we can help Ervin.

Thanks everyone. I am actually looking for something in the cbd.

And to answer a question of what's atracted me to it , it's from what I found out about it. That it's Tibetan Buddhism and it's in the city. Since Tibetan Buddhism is what I am interested in practicing.
