Jodo-E

Jodo-E

Today is Jodo-E the celebration of Shakyamuni's attaining Enlightenment; but as followers of the Lotus Sutra we should focus on Shakyamuni as the Eternal Buddha, he was always Enlightened and always will be, the human form is just an upaya. Shaka Butsu is at Eagle Peak discussing the sutra, when we practice enough and attain we'll hear it too....

Happy Bodhi Day/Jodo-e a day late!

"This is like the case of a peasant heavily in debt to the steward of his village and to other authorities. As long as he remains in his village or district, rather than mercilessly hounding him, they are likely to defer his debts from one year to the next. But when he tries to leave, they rush over and demand that he repay everything at once. This is what the sutra means when it states, “It is due to the blessings obtained by protecting the Law." I honored Buddha by getting a christmas tree.
Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.

In SGI and Shoshu they put evergreens on each side of the Gohonzon to represent eternity of life. Just get another one and flank the Gohonzon with them and BLAM!

Instant Holiday crossover.

Crass? Like a Jedi... :jedi:

I am SO doing that...also Indians often deck their shrines with "Christmas" lights and other gay apparel.
