At 10:00, his disciples brought him an image of Amida three feet high, and, as they put it on the right side of his bed, asked him if he could see it. With his finger pointing to the sky, he said, "There is another Buddha here besides this one. Do you not see him?" Then he went on to say,”As a result of the merit of repeating the sacred name, I have for the past ten years continually been gazing upon the glory of the Pure Land and the very forms of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. But I have kept it secret and said nothing about it. Now, however, as I draw near the end, I disclose it to you." The disciples then took a piece of cord made of five-colored strands, fastened it to the hand of the Buddha's image, and told Honen to take hold of it. Declining, he said, "This is the ceremony for most people, but it’s hardly necessary for me."

I have been slacking on watching Rev. Kosen Ishikawa's videos, and I am very thankful for the reminder of such a special service. For me, without a local temple, and Sangha, services like this are very inspiring, and are very helpful whenever I have become discouraged in my practice. Honestly, I do not know what I would do without Rev. Kosen Ishikawa which is strange since I have never spoken to him, yet just by watching his YouTube videos they do wonders for me.

:thanks:

Sth; and others, join us over at the google groups Jodo Shu Buddhist group, as we have 2 priests posting. Rev. Shinri and Rev. Ishikawa, there are other people too to talk with who are also far away so this is like our online sangha and supportive of your practice.

Thank you for the invitation. Joining the Google group has been something I have been meaning to do, for quite some time now, but I have always put it off for some reason. It took me about a year of lurking on the Pure Land forum here before I finally made an account, but it has been very beneficial doing so. Tonight, I will figure out how to join the Google group.

Thanks, but I got it. It literally took 2 seconds, so I have no idea why I have been putting it off for so long.
