Took me a long time, but I finally finished the first video. I like how ecumenical he is. His 4 requirements aren't used as such by other Pure land schools but they are pretty much met by the doctrines of the other schools. For example, the Shan-Tao based schools (such as Honen et al) meet the 4 requirements via the 3 Minds, the 4 Modes of Practice, and the 5 Right Practices. Shin's a little trickier to explain in this manner, but even something as simple as dedicating the merit (Ekoku) so that all sentient beings awaken the Bodhi Mind and are reborn in the Pure Land is an expression of some of the requirements, Nembutsu with deep faith handles the others. I think the teachings are necessarily going to manifest a little differently when 1 out of the 3 important sutras (namely the Visualization Sutra) isn't shared by the other tradition. It's interesting to learn more and more about the Tibetan side of things however. The similarities remain very strong.

Thanks for sharing!
