Giant Squid Filmed.

This thing looks totally crazy. Especially with that big human looking eye. Doesn't look so much like an animal to me, but more like something closer to human level. Apparently this is the first time one has ever been filmed.

Thus shall ye think of all this fleeting world:
A star at dawn, a bubble in a stream;
A flash of lightning in a summer cloud,
A flickering lamp, a phantom, and a dream.

Extraordinary animals...for a vivid account of a close encounter with one I recommend 'Gifts of Unknown Things ' by Lyall Watson.

I noticed when I was a boy that the octopus really does make a garden (this was at Lake Macquarie). They gather colorful shells and bits of plastic and other bits of detritus, and put them in a cleared area around their burrow. Then they will sit at the top of their burrow, watching what goes by, when they're not out hunting. That is why the Beatles' song of that name is really not so fanciful. I always rather liked the fact that they collected things.
