Samuel Lewis (perhaps better known as "Sufi Sam") was by any account a remarkable soul. He was among the first American Zen students not of Asian descent; he practiced early on with Nyogen Senzaki, and (this according to wikipedia):
In 1966, he was ordained a "Zen-Shi" (Zen Master) by Korean Zen master Dr. Kyung-Bo Seo.

I'd like to know more about Lewis generally, and also if he recognized any Dharma successors (as distinct from his work as a Sufi teacher and with the Dances of Universal Peace).

Also... has anyone ever visited Lama Foundation in New Mexico? looks beautiful

You might be interested to know Jikan that one of his Sufi linage successors, Pir Shabda Khan, is a student of Tai Situ Rinpoche.
Hope thats not too off topic.
