Nagarjuna's logic

Post by DNS »

This link was posted at Dhamma Wheel, but thought I'd post it here too, since it has some good things to say about Nagarjuna and Buddhist logic in general. It does a good job of explaining Nirvana too.

I don't see Nagarjuna's tetralemma as a paradox. I see it as a multiple choice question:
1. True
2. False
3. Both
4. Neither
5. None of the above

BTW I've always lobbied for the term "interdependent origination" to be rendered more simply as paradox.
1.The problem isn’t ‘ignorance’. The problem is the mind you have right now. (H.H. Karmapa XVII @NYC 2/4/18)
2. I support Mingyur R and HHDL in their positions against lama abuse.
3. Student: Lama, I thought I might die but then I realized that the 3 Jewels would protect me.
Lama: Even If you had died the 3 Jewels would still have protected you. (DW post by Fortyeightvows)

Interesting essay. I have stumbled on Graham Priest's books often but never really delved into them, this essay gives a good indication of his areas of interest. Some of those at the bottom of the page look interesting also.

Yes. It probably won't surprise you to know that I looked first at http://aeon.co/magazine/world-views/dav ... t-ecology/ but I haven't got time to read all of it just now.
