"static", "constant", "persistent" sensations

Post by Nucci93 »

Recently I've come across a question regarding certain sensations and their characteristics that I can't seem to solve. Specifically, it has to do with sensations that persist over a period of time. Examples would be looking at a static scene like the inside of a room, the pressure felt on your butt when you sit, or a buzzing noise. I was wondering how these sensations are continually experienced without the conditions changing, as if they were solid entities that don't change until the conditions change. Is it the moment to moment consciousness that changes making it so that it is neither the same sensation nor a different one moment to moment? Are the sensations just blinking in and out so fast that we cant perceive it? What is a moment? How did the buddha know these things?
