The great yogic practitioner and Mahasiddha of the Yungdrung Bön tradition Namkha Gyaltsen.

This is a very rare photo as one gazes into the Natural State of Mind like this Great Accomplished Master, being directly introduced to one's own Nature of Mind (sems nyid ngo sprod pa).

This photo is taken in a private room of the Bönpo monastery inside Sikkim Zhu Yungdrung Kündrag Ling (zhu g.yung drung kun grags gling) founded by the late Lama Yungdrung Tsultrim (bla ma g.yung drung tshul khrims; 1929-2008).

Namkha Gyaltsen is following the yogic tradition, and spent many years in solitary retreat (dben khrod) practicing tsalung trulkhor, tummo and chülen (rtsa rlung 'khrul 'khor dang gtum mo dang bcud len sogs) in the context of Dzogchen Kusum Rangshar (rdzogs pa chen po sku gsuk rang shar) according to Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen Rinpoche.

The photo must be taken after one of his long retrets around 1990 and shows him as true renunciate with ragged cloth as he had virtually nothing at all, not even a white shawl or zen (gzan dkar). He is wearing his long hair (lcang lo) helf way bound to a topknot and half hanging down. He is belonging to the yogic practitioners wearing white robes and long hair (gos dkar lcang lo’i sde) like Shardza Rinpoche himself.

As yogic practitioner of Dzogpachenpo (rdzogs pa chen po'i rnal 'byor pa), he gazes with wide open eyes and rests in the Natural State of Mind (gnas lugs).

There are 5 gazes:

- straight on
- upwards
- downward
- to the left
- to the right
