Milarepa Translation

Post by Ti-ti »

Hopefully someone can help me with this, as my Tibetan is coming along but isn't nearly good enough to figure this out....

There's an oft cited quote attributed to Milarepa that goes:
In horror of death, I took to the mountains,
Again and again I meditated on the uncertainty of the hour of death,
Capturing the fortress of the deathless, unending nature of mind.
Now all fear of death is over and done.
Wondering if anyone knows the original Tibetan of this quote and/or the source text? Maybe even where to find it online??

Thanks for any help :)

Before Ninakawa passed away, master Ikkyu visited him. "Shall I lead you on?" Ikkyu asked.
Ninakawa replied: "I came here alone and I go alone. What help could you be to me?"
Ikkyu answered: "If you think you really come and go, that is your delusion. Let me show you the path on which there is no coming and no going."
