Zangchod Boom, or "A Hundred Thousand Prayers for Excellent
and Extraordinary Deeds" is an annual prayer event based on
the practice of Samantabhadra. Also known as "The King of Prayers", it details
the practice of the great Bodhisattva Samantabhadra who attained enlightenment
through perfection of positive and beneficial deeds. The prayer essentially
recapitulates the extraordinary activities of Bodhisattvas. By the cumulative ef
ort of reciting "A Hundred Thousand Prayers for Excellent and Extraordinary
Deeds" together with His Holiness and his spiritual entourage of Rinpoches,
monks, nuns as well as lay devotees, the participants are able to
achieve the following:
purify great negativities in past and present lives and
accumulate vast positive potential and merit
• aspire to engage in the practices of those on the i ve paths
of the Bodhisattva vehicle - the paths of accumulation,
preparation, seeing, meditation and no more learning
• strengthen and awaken the imprints of one's disposition
and past wishes to accomplish the courageous deeds of
Bodhisattvas
• protect the virtues and positive ef ects of positive actions
from goint to waste through dedicating one's potential t
achieve the state of great Bodhisattva Samantabhadra and
Manjushri
• expand the positive potentials or positive karmic ef ects of
one's actions so that they become inexhaustible and the
fruits of such inexhaustible positive potentials can benefit
oneself and all others
• receive, one day, the prophesy directly from Buddha
Amitabha, about one's own enlightenment, so that one will
become Buddha with perfect wisdom, perfect compassion,
perfect love and perfect skilful means to help all the beings
