Chenrezig Institute (CI) is a Buddhist retreat, study and monastic centre nestled in the tranquil hills of the Sunshine Coast hinterland in Queensland, Australia. The Institute is one of the oldest and largest FPMT centres in the world, and offers a diverse range of Buddhist philosophy, meditation, retreat, sacred art and alternative health programmes to the community.
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Director to lead our experienced team at an exciting time of renewed growth and development.
The key elements of the Director’srole are:
· Providing inspiring leadership and management of the staff, volunteers and key stakeholders to develop a strategy that will consolidate CI’s success to date anddeliver sustainable growth in the long term.
· Working creatively, cohesively and harmoniously withthe Executive Committee, the Spiritual Programme Coordinator, the Centre Services Manager, the Finance Manager andvital stakeholders such as the Resident Geshe, teachers, Sangha, translator and area managers.
· Competent financial and commercial management including planning, budget development, allocation and monitoring, and the creative development and effective implementation of strategies for revenue generation.
· Building strong relationships with the various stakeholders including government departments, businesses, national and international FPMT offices,the local community and Chenrezig Institute’s residents, visitors and students.
The Director we are looking for is a skilful and compassionate manager of people, with an inclusive leadership style, who has the capacity to develop and deliver strategies and to oversee the management and operation of a large and very busy Dharma centre. This person can competently manage a large budget (over $1 million) and ensure sustainable growth of that budget. Ideally they will have high level IT competency, experience in occupational health and safety and other legislative and policy requirements, project management and event management skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills.

This position is a salaried post, based upon a 38 hour working week. Some flexibility of working hours may be required at times.The offered package includes 25 days annual leave in addition to public holidays, and free access to teachings at Chenrezig Institute.
