A Spontaneous Poem of Aspiration & Prayer

Post by wisdom »

Although my stomach may be hungry,
Meditation has become my food.
Although my throat may be thirsy,
Practicing Dharma has become my water.
Although my skin may long for a breeze,
Studying Dharma has become my breath.
Although my body may desire a home,
The Guru has become my shelter.

The things of this world are never done
Until we reliquish our hold on them
Yet even as we hold tightly to those desires
They dig into us with equal fervor
Fettering us to an endless quest
That can never reach its fulfillment

Never will there be a time
When I can say "Now Im ready to to leave Samsara"
Nor could there be any conditions
That might appear which indicate
"OK, now you can let this world go"
All of that is just more grasping
Contrived, full of hope and fear
So I let go of my grip on this stupid world
Full of suffering, angst and sorrow
Seeing the wisdom of release
With the abandon of a madman
I cast it down into the dust
Although I may feel fear and uncertainty
I cannot live the lie another day
Feelings arise, insubstantial anyways
But adventitious clouds never alter
The nature of the Sky

The masters of old
Who left their home and possessions
In search of ultimate Dharma
Out of compassion for all beings
They gave themselves unconditionally
For my sake, although long ago they died
So although I am a deluded being
An anthill next to mighty towers
I will pretend the best I can
To follow the footsteps of the wise.

I pray to the wanderers, the ascetics, the great masters
The yogis, the dedicated, whose minds shine brightly
I pray to the mahasiddhias, to protectors
Dakas, dakinis, bodhisattvas and buddhas
To every master known and unknown
Whatever their level of realization
And whatever path of Dharma they traverse
I pray to the Guru, the living Buddha
Inseperable from my own innate nature
To open fully the door of Dharma
And make clear the way to fulfill my hearts desire
That all beings shall be liberated from suffering
Into unsurpassable Buddhahood

Praise to the Guru who gives all blessings
The source of every Siddhi and realization
Praise to the Guru, the compassionate Buddha
Who cares only for the welfare of others
Praise to the Guru, protector of all
Shelter and refuge of even insects
Praise to the Guru, revealer of all
Who makes clear the inner inexhaustible treasure
Praise to the Guru, perfect Vajrasattva
Who polishes the mirror of mind
Praise to the Guru, mighty Vajradhara
Whose fearless activity gives unchanging realization
Praise to the Guru alone!

Bravo

The giants will carry you for hire
so you can support their wait
The ants will listen to your silence
right hear
Aspiration is your answer
and prayer redundant
Write Now
Words unspoken, dharma lost
Guru gone fishing, sangha unrobed
Ahead no head
Behind Nothing
Onward, Upward, Sideways and Inward :hi:

just amazing  :anjali:
If the thought of demons
Never rises in your mind,
You need not fear the demon hosts around you.
It is most important to tame your mind within....

In so far as the Ultimate, or the true nature of being is concerned,
there are neither buddhas or demons.
He who frees himself from fear and hope, evil and virtue,
will realize the insubstantial and groundless nature of confusion.
Samsara will then appear as the mahamudra itself….
