Gut Flora

Post by BuddhistPariah »

Lately I've come to the conclusion that many of my health problems are coming in part from a weak intestine, very probably from a weak intestine flora.

I have been looking on internet and the most interesting article for me is this one:
http://www.gutsense.org/gutsense/flora.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That's why I am tempted to buy the book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fiber-Menace-eb ... 858&sr=1-1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But I am also open to opinions and suggestions coming from you.

Thanks.

You know, there are better ways to get fiber into your system than prepackaged "cereals": fresh fruit, sprouts and vegetables for example, which are crawling with all types of bacteria. You know a bit of dirt (in your food) never killed anybody (unless it was infested with ecoli). Thing is you gotta eat the peel of the fruit and veges as well so it would be smart if they were (at least) organic and at best home grown. What about making up a batch of home made yoghurt and/or kefir/aryan/buttermilk? That'll do wonders for intestinal flora. There are also homeopathic treatments where intestinal bacteria are reintroduced into your system via ingestion. In closing there are also commercially available yoghurt and yoghurt drinks purposefully infused (infested!) with intestinal bacteria.

Oh, did I forget to say 30 minutes of moderate-strong exercise daily?

If all that doesn't get you sprinting for the porcelain throne I don't know what will!

Yeah I know I am not a TM doctor but not all problems require doctors!

PS Drink at least 1 and a 1/2 litres of water per day. Water, not tea, coffee, softdrinks or fruit juices.
PPS Cutting down meat consumption would help as well.

Hi gregkavarnos,

Of course what you say is true however when a member asks a question in this particular forum i.e. the Tibetan Medicine forum it was decided when setting it up that the answers should only come from a qualified Tibetan Medicine practitioner. Members are free to ask questions in other forums like the Help Required one, where answers from anyone would be acceptable. It would be greatly appreciated if the Guidelines for this Forum were adhered to (for the reasons given). Thank you for your co-operation.

I had symptoms of ibs that were so bad i missed work occasionally. Its thought that one of the causes of ibs is bad intestinal flora. The specific carbohydrate diet fixed me. Maybe it will help you too http://www.scdiet.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The theory of the diet is that you starve out bad intestinal flora.
