Dzogchen is the highest view amongst the three principal teachings known as Sutra, Tantra and Dzogchen. These teachings are based on the principal of showing indiscriminate love and compassion, and to treat every sentient being as one's parent and relatives. There will be a systematic teaching on sutra, tantra, and Dzogchen and their distinctive paths, views, meditations, characteristics and the results. Without understanding views of Sutra and Tantra, one cannot appreciate Dzogchen tawa.

These teachings were initially taught by the Ultimate Buddha Kuntu Szangpo, which were followed up by Buddha Tonpa Shenrab some 18,000 years ago in Shambala, and they were carried on by his successors until this day. Later, all three bodies of the teachings found their way into Tibet mainly from Zhang Zhung. These teachings were taught for the benefit of all sentient beings to attain Buddhahood! In Dzogchen, the key message is that everyone's Sem-nyid, the Nature of the Mind, is perfectly enlightened from the beginning and to realize and discover that Sem-nyid is the ultimate goal thus attaining the Buddhahood!
