Greetings from the South of England

Post by Taishin »

Hello all. Just joined on the advice of one of my friends...didn't know about this forum until last night!

Am hoping to broaden my knowledge of Buddhism by just browsing and maybe asking a few questions, such as 'What would be the best way to teach 8-10 year old Cubs how to meditate?" If anyone has any ideas, I'd be really grateful.

I practise in the Japanese Tendai tradition with a small group of people in the South of England. I've been going now for about 5 years and we have a really lovely Sangha, where we're able to share knowledge and experiences; 5 of us went on a weekend retreat in Copenhagen, Denmark 2 years ago. Thus far, the highlight of my 'Buddhist life' has to be visiting and spending all night meditating at the Mahabodhi temple in Bodh Gaya, India last year...a moment that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Hoping to learn much on here.

With Metta,
Taishin

Hi Taishin! looks like we have some mutual friends. Welcome to DharmaWheel.

I'd also be interested in learning how others teach meditation to children. I have some sense of how to teach them five of the six paramitas, but that last one seems a sticky wicket...

Hi Taishin, glad to see you've joined :)

As for teaching kids meditation... bribe them with chocolate? :rolling:

Gassho,
Seishin.
